Bay of Pigs by Destroyer (by piper caldwell)

Tomorrow is my dad’s birthday, he’s turning 44. Eighteen years ago tomorrow was his first birthday as a father. This is his last year with all four kids living in his house.
I guess it just hit me tonight that I’ll be sleeping in my room for less than a year now, and that all of the things I’ve taken for granted, like being around my family in the afternoons, will go away soon. I have to hurry up and start appreciating things more. This is the weirdest feeling in the world. I can’t imagine not having noise to keep me from my homework, or Tommy to make me laugh, or my dad coming home from work to see me every day, or my mom talking to me about my school and asking me how my day was. I’m not excited for August.
